I was telling you before the summer that any sense of relaxation you might get from a holiday fades just 3 days after returning to work… Where are you at a few weeks after returning to work? Have you relaxed fully over the summer? Have you managed to switch off? What pace are you working at now? How are you feeling?
Returning from your holidays can be the ideal moment to question work rhythm, organisation and life pace in general. You are in a better position to be more aware of the difference between how you felt on holidays and what is happening how, to go beyond the “I am fine thanks!”. A manic pace is not a necessity. Becoming aware of the pace you live at, taking the time to think about it and putting in place some new ways or at least some adjustments is essential if you do not want to face total exhaustion in a few months.
If you have no idea where to begin, here are a few tips:
Switch off for a few minutes every two hours (I show you how on our YouTube channel).
Plan only 50% of your time, leave time for interruptions and musing.
Take a break BEFORE you are tired! This is more efficient and takes less time.
Slow down, speed does not always mean efficiency but can lead to major mistakes.
Learn to use technology and not let it use you: decide when you check your emails/messages, switch off all your alarms.
Breathe deeply 3 times several times a day.
